GARHWA: The area commander of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) was arrested from Kitasoti village under sadar police station area on Saturday.
Police also recovered a countrymade pistol, three cartridges, a luxury SUV, Rs 41,150 in cash, a gold chain, mobile phones and a passbook of Garhwa Bank of India with deposits worth Rs seven lakh from his possession.
Confirming the arrest, Garhwa SP Priyadarshi Alok, said: "Virendra Baitha is a millionaire."
Hailing from Khurra Kalan village under Chainpur police station area of Palamu district, Baitha owns many trucks and several stone cursher plants operating in different parts of Garhwa district, said the SP.
He added that Baitha was accused of killing three persons under Balrampur police station area of Chhattisgarh in 2006-07. This apart, he was also allegedly involved in setting a truck on fire and kidnapping a teacher in Chainpur police station area of Palamu district. Baitha was associated with the CPI(Maoist) before joining the TPC, a breakaway faction of Maoists, he said.
